A luxury new build with a large roof plan and weak soil for the building to sit on posed interesting challenges for the vector team. Our expert engineers decided to use a mix of steel and timber to support the roof as this helped keep the build cost down but added the strength needed. Wide Reinforced strip footings were used to overcome to low bearing capacity of the soil which (once detailed correctly) meant the contractor avoided needing piles which helped to keep the cost much lower than expected on this project.
